A simp is a person who excessively adores someone, usually a public figure such as an influencer or celebrity. Simps can either be men or women, but most of the time, these are men who are driven by lust and a lack of attention. They are commonly found on streaming sites, fawning over women like the infamous Belle Delphine.
Simps will do anything to gain the slightest bit of attention, doing outrageous things such as donating large amounts of money on streams, and creating parasocial relationships with streamers, hoping they will gain some form of validation.
Simping isn't anything like a simple crush or admiration. It is several times worse than that because simps go to great lengths to please the woman they like, even at their own expense. The sad thing about their situation is that the women they simp over usually don’t care about them at all. They don’t even know these men exist in the first place.
But simping is not limited to online spaces. Even in traditional dating culture, simps are known to lovebomb and do unnecessary acts of service for the person they like. The real kicker? The woman didn’t ask for it; the attention and favors are all unwarranted. The worst part is that being nice to a lady is now synonymous with being a simp.
Because of simps, the image of good men in today’s society is all but ruined.
Why would people think that nice guys are just simps?
It all starts with their lack of attention and attraction. Most simps’ behavior stems from their growth as adolescents; they are usually the kids whose parents were too busy to care for them, the student in class who doesn’t feel welcomed by their peers and their surroundings. As a result, they grow up looking for attention and attraction in the wrong places.
They have this short-sighted vision of attraction, and they heavily fantasize about being with the person they like but could never be with. Call it parasocial.

Not all good deeds are made from good intentions, especially with simps. They are known to objectify women, seeing them as a prize they can get by being a good person. They bank on the thought that doing good will be rewarded.
Unfortunately, that’s not how it works. People are smart enough to know that if you’re doing good things out of nowhere, you’re just trying to impress someone. But why go through all the trouble for a woman?
The answer is simple: Because their intentions are based on lust.
It’s like those times when men would go find a woman on the craigslist dating website, and start love bombing them, and whenever they get caught slipping from their nice guy personality, they start crumbling.
“No, I’m not doing this to sleep with you.”
9 out of 10 times, they’re just lying.
Simps are frustrated that they could never get the woman they’re simping for, especially niche internet micro-celebrities like live streamers, influencers, and OnlyFans models, despite donating tons of money just to gain their affection.
You’ve probably come across them on Instagram comments, Twitch streams, or on Reddit threads. Not only that, but they create an unsafe space in dating apps, making women more hesitant to talk to men in general.
Donating to a live streamer is fine, but a lot of simps think that it’s one way for them to connect and possibly have a personal relationship with those influencers, but in reality?
They’re just funding their income, and all they will ever receive is a thank-you shout-out.
Everyone knows the difference between being a loyal supporter versus someone who just wants attention. It’s such a parasocial/one-sided affair to a point the public sees it as being pathetic.
Because simps are known for doing things to an outrageous extent, genuine men who want to go the extra mile for their potential dates are now thinking twice, otherwise, they’ll be labeled as simps.
On their end, it feels embarrassing because they’ve seen how the internet dissects pathetic people. With men shying away from being nice due to the unfair comparison, women are left to wonder, “Where have all the nice men gone?”
Remember what was said about how they objectify women and see them as a prize?
They create unwarranted offers, hoping they can gain something in return. These simps are forcing them to be in a position where women will feel like they have no choice but to return the favor.
They don’t care how uncomfortable they are; they only have one thing in mind, and that’s to gain a woman’s affection. Because of that, a lot of women think that all men are waiting for a reward, creating a stereotype that nice guys are always expecting something in return for their kindness.
There’s a glaring difference between a simp and a naturally kind man.
Good men don’t expect anything in return when they do something nice for someone; they do their thing and leave. No favors, no debts, nothing.
In dating apps, genuine men will be themselves; it doesn’t matter if the woman they’re talking to is out of their league, they would rather show their true selves to avoid confusion and expectations.
Simps, on the other hand, will bombard women with affection, hoping they will return said affection.
Dating apps promote simp behavior, hence there has to be a change in the narrative about how nice guys are simps.
